The following is from Dr. Norman Platnick, New York, New York; the author of 19 books on American Illustrators including some featured in A Grandfathers Dream of Fair Women:
Congratulations on a splendid book, Bob! It is surely a "must have" for the members of Amerillus! For those who haven't yet had a chance to investigate this new resource, it covers a wide range of artists from the "Golden Age of Illustration," including not only some who are household names (such as Harrison Fisher) but also some who are quite obscure (such as Charles Taylor and Harry McVickar). Each chapter includes biographical information; for many of the artists whose work deserves to be much more widely known, these are probably the most thorough biographical accounts available. Each chapter includes a representative selection of that artist's works, and the book has far more color than you would expect from its relatively low price. The additional Internet resources that are available to purchasers make for an irresistible package!
